Living in iOS 11 and watchOS 4: ways to get the latest upgrade and updates on to your device, what we like about it, hiccups to be aware of, what’s in store for the future? Visiting new Apple Stores, err, Town Squares and Plazas and customer service experiences. Tips for using your devices in the event of an emergency. All this and more, available in our full show notes at InTouchwithiOS.com

Dave shares his experiences with Apple Watch repair and iPhone replacement. He has recently visited some of the newly renovated Apple retail spaces. We still need to get used to calling them Town Squares or Plazas.

Here is a demo Dave made that shows Qi wireless charging in action.

Dave has been running the betas and Melissa has mixed thoughts on using iMazing for both iOS 11.0.1 and 11.0.2 upgrade and update. Changes of note in watchOS: easier-on-the eyes passcode entry screen; Silent Mode takes an extra swipe to get to. iPhone battery drain is pretty bad on iPhone 6s, but it will hopefully get better soon. 3D Touch App Switcher is missing, but Craig says it’s coming back

Melissa is on the hunt for the best iPhone 8 Plus case. Please send us your suggestions! It needs to be a wallet style with strap and taking photos with it needs to be easy and not get in the way of the flash.

Listening to Podcasts
Apple provides an easy way to get started listening to podcasts with their own Podcasts app, but there are some settings you should be aware of because they can chew through a limited data plan and fill up an iPhone with a smaller storage capacity. Here is a tutorial Melissa created using the new screen recording feature in iOS: ”Change Apple’s Podcasts Default Settings to Save on Your Data Plan” — TheMacMommy

Go to Settings > Podcasts > switch Cellular Data: OFF if you want to be sure you’re not using your data plan when you leave Wi-Fi. Change Refresh Every to: Manually so podcasts are not downloading in the background. You’ll have more control over when you want to get them to your phone. Change Download Episodes: OFF to save data, or ON if you know you want to download podcasts for listening to them later or while traveling, then only download them while on Wi-Fi. Switch Delete Played Episodes: ON so they don’t fill up your phone over time.
